The 2007 Vintage
The 2007 growing season in Napa Valley was marked by a mild spring and a long, warm summer, leading to optimal ripeness and beautifully balanced grapes. A cool September allowed for extended hang-time, developing complex flavors and retaining vibrant acidity in our Chardonnay. This vintage is remembered for its concentrated fruit, refined structure, and remarkable aging potential.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes:
- Appearance: Brilliant golden hue with a hint of straw.
- Aroma: Inviting notes of ripe golden apple, pear, and Meyer lemon, intertwined with subtle hints of toasted brioche, vanilla bean, and a touch of flinty minerality from its time in French oak.
- Palate: A rich and creamy entry unfolds layers of baked apple, citrus zest, and a whisper of butterscotch. Well-integrated acidity provides a lively backbone, leading to a long, elegant finish with lingering notes of spice and toasted almond.
- Cellaring Potential: This Chardonnay was crafted for longevity. While drinking beautifully now, it can be cellared for another 3-5 years (through 2028-2030) to further develop its complex secondary characteristics.
